Experience
I have a BS and a MS in Mathematics Education from the University of Central Florida. I have been helping middle school and high school students learn mathematics for over 25 years through both tutoring and formal classroom teaching. Currently, I chair the mathematics department at my high school. I have received awards for teaching, including "Teacher of the Year" and "Outstanding Educator" by a local magazine. Subjects I can tutor are Pre-Algebra through Algebra 4, AP Calculus AB, Calculus I, Geometry, IB Mathematical Studies SL, IB Mathematics SL, Middle School Math, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, and Trigonometry. I believe that math is a subject everyone can master, no matter what their previous experience with it has been. I understand that everyone has a different style of learning. My approach is to work with the student to discover where they are falling short, and then utilize appropriate techniques to capitalize on their strengths in order to solve the problem. It is exciting to see someone use their own abilities to be able to complete work they had otherwise viewed as too difficult to do. When I am not in the classroom, I enjoy being with my family, biking, reading, and watching sports.
